    Not really, I pointed out that Hollywood go to excessive (flashy and dramatic) effort for very little return. I mean, why park your expensive, irreplaceable and vulnerable mothership over a city when, say, you could rod a city safely from orbit and then radio a list of demands. If you ever want a chilling version of something that would work, go watch or read The Screwfly Solution.
